Possible Causes
Weak or failing igniter, Restricted combustion air from dirty fan or intake, Excessive ash buildup in firepot, Low-quality or damp pellets
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn OFF, unplug, and allow the grill to cool before cleaning.
- Clean firepot and burn area: Remove grates and diffuser. Vacuum ash from the firepot and surrounding area. Ensure all air holes in the firepot are clear.
- Inspect combustion fan and intake: Access the fan and air intake. Clean grease and dust from the fan blades and intake vents. Confirm the fan spins freely.
- Check igniter performance: During startup, verify that the igniter glows bright red and pellets ignite within a few minutes. A weak glow or delayed ignition indicates a failing igniter that should be replaced.
- Use dry, premium pellets: Empty the hopper and refill with fresh, dry Gourmet Grillson-approved hardwood pellets. Avoid pellets stored in humid environments.
- Retest at moderate setpoint: Set the grill to 300°F and monitor. If it still cannot reach temperature, further diagnosis of the control board or fan may be required.
