Possible Causes
Loose RTD connection causing intermittent readings, Control board PID circuit failure, Electrical noise from fan or auger motor affecting sensor signal
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn OFF and unplug the grill before touching wiring or the control panel.
- Secure RTD connections: Access the control panel and firmly reseat the RTD connector on the main control board. Check that the RTD cable is not pulled tight or kinked.
- Inspect cable routing: Ensure the RTD cable is not bundled tightly with the auger motor or fan motor wires, which can introduce electrical noise. Separate the sensor cable from power wires where possible.
- Check for moisture: Look for condensation or water inside the control panel housing. Dry thoroughly and improve weather sealing if needed.
- Test operation: Power the grill back on and monitor temperature stability at a moderate setpoint (e.g., 250°F). If ERR6 recurs and wiring is sound, the control board's PID circuit may be defective and require replacement.
