Possible Causes

Weak or burned-out hot rod igniter, Igniter not positioned correctly in firepot, Excessive ash insulating pellets from igniter, Low combustion airflow

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Turn OFF and unplug the grill. Allow all pellets and components to cool before working in the firepot.

  • Clean firepot: Remove grates and diffuser. Vacuum all ash and unburned pellets from the firepot. Ensure the igniter hole is clear.
  • Check igniter position: The tip of the Gourmet Grillson igniter should protrude slightly into the firepot or align with the igniter hole. Adjust mounting so the hot section is close to the pellets.
  • Test igniter glow: With the firepot empty, plug in and start the grill with the lid open. After 2–4 minutes, look for a bright red glow from the igniter. If there is no glow, replace the igniter assembly.
  • Verify airflow: Listen for the combustion fan during startup. If the fan is not running, diagnose and repair the fan circuit to ensure adequate oxygen for ignition.
