Possible Causes
Low pellet level causing fuel starvation, Wet or poor-quality pellets, Blocked combustion air inlets, Weak combustion fan airflow
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn OFF and unplug the grill. Allow it to cool before cleaning or relighting.
- Check pellet supply: Ensure the hopper is at least half full with dry, high-quality hardwood pellets. Remove any clumped or swollen pellets and sawdust.
- Inspect fire pot: Remove grates and diffuser. Empty the fire pot of ash and unburned pellets. Excess ash can smother the flame.
- Verify airflow: Check that the combustion fan intake and exhaust paths are clear of debris, spider webs, or grease. Clean the fan housing and air channels.
- Check for wind issues: Strong wind can blow out the flame. Use the grill in a sheltered location and avoid pointing vents directly into prevailing wind.
- Restart procedure: With a clean fire pot and dry pellets, restart the grill following the Outdoorchef manual. Monitor the startup to ensure a stable flame develops.
If Er06 continues despite clean conditions and good pellets, test the combustion fan for proper speed and replace it or the control board if airflow is inadequate.
