Possible Causes

Open or shorted start capacitor, Loose capacitor terminals, Aged capacitor with reduced capacitance, Internal centrifugal switch fault (if equipped)

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Disconnect power and wait several minutes. Capacitors can store charge; discharge them safely before handling. If unsure, contact a professional.

  • 1. Access the capacitor: On many Espa single-phase pumps, the start capacitor is located under a plastic cover on top or side of the motor. Remove the cover screws and lift off the cover.
  • 2. Visual inspection: Look for bulging, leaking, or cracked capacitor casing. Any visible damage means the capacitor must be replaced.
  • 3. Check connections: Ensure the spade terminals are tight and not corroded. Clean and re-crimp if necessary.
  • 4. Replace capacitor: Match the microfarad (µF) rating and voltage rating printed on the original Espa capacitor. Install the new capacitor, ensuring correct insulation and secure mounting.
  • 5. Test run: Refit the cover, restore power, and start the pump. If E07 persists and the motor still only hums, the motor windings or internal switch may be faulty and the motor assembly should be replaced.
