Possible Causes

Blocked airflow around control module, High ambient temperature in pump room, Dust buildup on heatsink, Failing cooling fan (if equipped)

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Turn off power before removing any covers from the control module.

  • 1. Improve ventilation: Ensure the Espa pump and its control box are not enclosed in a sealed cabinet. Provide ventilation openings or a fan to move air through the area.
  • 2. Clean heatsink and vents: Remove the control cover (if user-serviceable) and gently blow out dust from the heatsink fins and ventilation slots using dry compressed air. Do not use water or solvents.
  • 3. Check for direct sun exposure: If the pump is outdoors, shield the control module from direct sunlight while maintaining airflow.
  • 4. Inspect cooling fan: Some Espa drives include a small fan. Verify that it spins freely and runs when the pump is operating. Replace the fan if it is noisy, seized, or not running.
  • 5. Reduce load: Temporarily reduce the maximum speed setting to lower heat generation and see if E08 disappears. Persistent E08 may indicate failing power electronics requiring professional repair.
