Possible Causes

Blocked ventilation openings on motor, High ambient temperature with poor airflow, Failing motor bearings causing excess heat, Internal cooling fan damaged or missing

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Turn off power and allow the pump to cool completely before touching the motor housing.

Steps to check:

  • Clear ventilation: Remove leaves, dirt, and obstructions from around the Jacuzzi motor. Ensure at least 12 inches of clearance for airflow.
  • Inspect cooling fan: Look through the motor end-bell vents to confirm the plastic cooling fan is intact and spins with the shaft.
  • Check for binding: Spin the motor shaft (or impeller via the basket opening) by hand with power OFF. It should rotate freely without grinding.
  • Verify run time and speed: On variable-speed models, reduce the programmed RPM and duty cycle to lower heat load, especially in hot climates.

If E04 recurs quickly even with good airflow and free rotation, the internal thermal sensor or windings may be failing and the motor assembly should be replaced.
