Possible Causes
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Switch off the pump at the breaker and allow it to cool for at least 30 minutes before touching the motor body.
- Restore water flow: Ensure all valves on suction and return lines are open. Check the Saci pump strainer basket and skimmer baskets for blockages. A dry‑running pump overheats quickly.
- Clean ventilation: Inspect the motor cooling fins and fan cover. Remove leaves, dust, and cobwebs that restrict airflow. Make sure the pump has adequate clearance around it for air circulation.
- Check cooling fan: With power off, spin the rear motor fan by hand. It should rotate freely and not be broken. Replace the fan cover or fan if damaged.
- Reset and monitor: After cooling and cleaning, restore power and restart the pump. Monitor temperature for the first hour of operation. If E04 returns, reduce run time or improve ventilation (shade, airflow).
Persistent overheating may indicate internal motor damage; in that case, replacement of the motor assembly is recommended.
