Pump trips the circuit breaker immediately when switched on
Safety Warning
This repair may involve working with high voltage components or water connections. Always unplug the appliance before removing any panels.
If you are not confident in your ability to perform this repair safely, we strongly recommend contacting a professional technician.
Possible Causes
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Do not repeatedly reset a breaker that trips instantly; this indicates a serious fault. Turn off and lock out the breaker.
- Inspect cable and plug: Check the pump's supply cable for cuts, crushed sections, or burn marks. Replace if damaged.
- Check terminal box: Open the motor terminal cover and look for water, corrosion, or burnt connections. Dry and clean minor moisture; if severe, the motor may be compromised.
- Isolate components: On variable‑speed Saci pumps, disconnect the motor leads from the control PCB and try powering the PCB alone (if allowed). If the breaker still trips, the PCB is shorted.
Most short‑circuit conditions require replacement of the motor or control PCB. This is not typically a DIY repair.
