Possible Causes

Blocked cooling air vents, Cooling fan not running or obstructed, Excessive ambient temperature under hob (e.g. oven running without proper ventilation), Faulty temperature sensor on power module

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Switch off all zones and isolate power if you need to access underneath the hob.

Ventilation checks:

  • Ensure the air intake and exhaust vents under the hob (often at the front or rear) are not blocked by drawers, pans, or insulation.
  • Remove any items stored directly under the hob that may restrict airflow.
  • If an AEG oven is installed below, verify that the installation follows AEG's ventilation clearances in the manual.

Cooling fan check:

  • Turn the hob on briefly and listen for the cooling fan. It should run at low speed even after cooking.
  • If the fan is noisy, intermittent, or not running, it may be obstructed or faulty.
  • Isolate power, remove the hob, and visually inspect the fan for dust buildup or foreign objects. Clean gently with a soft brush.

If E2 persists after ensuring good ventilation and cleaning, the fan motor or temperature sensor on the power module may need replacement. This should be done by an AEG-qualified technician.
