Possible Causes
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Turn off the hob and allow it to cool. Isolate power before accessing underneath.
Ventilation and installation:
- Check that the hob has the correct cut-out and ventilation clearances as per AEG installation instructions.
- Ensure no insulation, foil, or stored items are blocking the underside of the hob.
- If an oven is installed below, verify its cooling system is working and that hot air is not trapped directly under the hob.
Cooling fan:
- Listen for the fan after cooking; it should run for several minutes.
- If silent, noisy, or intermittent, the fan motor may be seized or faulty.
- With power isolated, remove the hob, inspect the fan for dust buildup, and clean carefully. If the fan blades are stiff or the motor is burnt, replace the fan assembly.
If E5 persists after ensuring proper ventilation and a working fan, the control board temperature sensor or power module may need replacement by a technician.
