Possible Causes

Open or shorted NTC temperature sensor, Damaged sensor wiring harness, Loose connector at control board, Failed electronic control board (EPC/clock module)

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Disconnect the range from mains power by switching off the circuit breaker or unplugging it. Do not work on live circuits.

  • Access the sensor: Open the oven door and locate the temperature sensor probe at the rear wall (usually top left or top center, a thin metal rod held by 1–2 screws).
  • Check mounting and wiring: Remove the mounting screws and gently pull the sensor forward. Inspect the wiring and connector for burns, breaks, or loose pins. Reseat the connector firmly.
  • Test the sensor: With a multimeter set to resistance (ohms), measure across the sensor terminals. A typical Amica NTC sensor is around 500–1100 Ω at room temperature (check your model’s service sheet). If it reads open (OL) or near 0 Ω, the sensor is faulty.
  • Inspect harness to control: If the sensor tests good, trace the harness back to the electronic control board behind the front panel. Look for pinched, burned, or broken wires and repair or replace as needed.
  • Replace parts as needed: If the sensor is out of spec, replace the oven temperature sensor (NTC probe). If wiring and sensor are good but E01 persists, the electronic control board is likely defective and should be replaced.
  • Restore power and test: Reassemble, restore power, and run a bake cycle to confirm normal heating and that E01 no longer appears.
