Possible Causes
Insufficient ventilation under hob, Blocked cooling fan, High ambient temperature in cabinet, Failing cooling fan motor
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off the hob at the mains and allow it to cool.
- Check installation clearances: Verify that the hob has the minimum ventilation gaps specified by Amica (underneath and at the rear). Remove any shelves or panels blocking airflow.
- Clear obstructions: Do not store pans, trays, or other items directly under the hob that could restrict air movement.
- Inspect and clean fan: Access the underside of the hob and locate the cooling fan. Remove dust and debris from the fan and vents. Spin the fan by hand to ensure it moves freely.
- Test fan operation: Restore power and run the hob at moderate power; listen for the fan. If it does not run or is very noisy, replace the cooling fan motor.
- Re-test: After improving ventilation and/or replacing the fan, operate the hob for an extended period to confirm that E12 no longer appears.
