Possible Causes
Stuck touch key, Damaged membrane keypad, Loose ribbon cable to control board, Faulty user interface PCB
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect the range from mains power before removing the control panel.
- Clean control surface: Wipe the touch panel or keypad with a soft, slightly damp cloth to remove grease or residue that may cause keys to stick. Dry thoroughly.
- Power reset: Turn off power for 5 minutes, then restore and check if E40 clears.
- Inspect ribbon cable: Remove the control panel fascia to access the keypad or UI board. Reseat the ribbon cable between the keypad and the main control board.
- Check for damage: Look for cracks, moisture, or burn marks on the keypad or UI PCB. If any are found, replace the user interface / keypad assembly.
- Control board: If a known-good keypad still results in E40, the main control board may be misinterpreting key signals and should be replaced.
