Possible Causes
Protective oils on elements, Residual packaging materials, Dust on heating components
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Ensure good ventilation by opening windows or using an extractor. Keep children and pets away during initial burn-off.
- Remove packaging: Check the oven cavity and hob for any remaining plastic films, cardboard, or labels and remove them.
- Initial burn-off: Run the oven empty at a high temperature (e.g. 220–250°C) for 30–60 minutes as recommended by Amica, with the door closed and ventilation on.
- Monitor: Some smell and light smoke are normal during this process. If heavy smoke or visible flames appear, switch off immediately and inspect for foreign objects.
- Repeat if needed: If odor persists, repeat the burn-off once more. Persistent strong burning smell after several uses may indicate a wiring or component issue that needs inspection.
