Possible Causes

Faulty door lock motor or solenoid, Defective door position switch, Misaligned door latch mechanism

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Disconnect power. If the door is locked, do not force it open; internal parts can be damaged.

  • Access lock assembly: Remove the top panel or front trim to reach the door lock mechanism (on pyrolytic Ariston ovens it is usually at the top front).
  • Check alignment: Inspect the latch hook on the door and the lock receiver on the cabinet. Bent parts or loose screws can prevent proper engagement. Realign and tighten as needed.
  • Test lock motor/solenoid: Disconnect the lock motor and measure resistance. An open circuit indicates a failed motor/solenoid.
  • Inspect door switch: Many locks include a microswitch to confirm locked/unlocked position. Test continuity while manually operating the lock. Replace if intermittent or open.
  • Manual release: If the door is stuck closed, use the manual release tab or lever (often accessible from the top or through the front panel) to open the door before replacing parts.
  • Replace lock assembly: Install a new Ariston door lock assembly if the motor or switch is defective. Ensure the latch engages smoothly when closing the door.
