Safety first: Immediately switch off all zones and disconnect the cooktop from mains power. Do not touch broken glass with bare hands and do not continue using the appliance.
- Step 1 – Prevent use: Place a clear warning on the appliance to prevent accidental use until repaired.
- Step 2 – Clean up safely: Carefully remove loose glass fragments using gloves and a brush. Avoid disturbing internal components.
- Step 3 – Order replacement glass: Obtain the correct Balay glass ceramic top using the model and E‑Nr from the rating plate.
- Step 4 – Replace glass (technician): Remove the cooktop, disconnect the touch control and zone assemblies from the old glass, and transfer them to the new top following Balay’s service instructions. Ensure all seals and insulation are correctly refitted.
Operating a cooktop with cracked glass is dangerous due to risk of electric shock and further breakage.
