Induction or ceramic cooktop shuts down shortly after switching on; display shows E1 or a similar low‑voltage warning.

Safety first: Switch off the cooktop and isolate it from the mains at the circuit breaker before opening any covers.

• Step 1 – Check other appliances: Verify if lights dim or other appliances behave abnormally when the cooktop is used. This may indicate a household supply issue.
• Step 2 – Inspect wall outlet and breaker: Ensure the correct dedicated circuit and breaker rating are used as specified in the Balay installation manual. Reset the breaker once.
• Step 3 – Check terminal block: Remove the cooktop from the countertop, open the rear/underside terminal cover, and inspect the connection block. Tighten any loose screws and verify that the phase, neutral, and earth wires are correctly positioned and not burnt.
• Step 4 – Inspect power cord: Look for cuts, burns, or crushed sections on the power cable. Replace the cable if any damage is visible.
• Step 5 – Measure supply voltage (technician): With a multimeter and proper PPE, measure voltage at the terminal block. If voltage is consistently below the specified range, contact an electrician. If voltage is correct but E1 persists, the internal power supply module may be defective.
