Possible Causes

Blocked ventilation openings, Overheated power module, Defective temperature sensor on induction coil, Cooling fan failure

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Turn off the cooktop and allow it to cool for at least 30 minutes. Do not cover the cooktop or obstruct vents.

  • Step 1 – Check ventilation: Ensure there is adequate clearance under the cooktop as per Balay installation instructions. Remove any stored items (pans, trays, cloths) from the cabinet space beneath the cooktop that may block airflow.
  • Step 2 – Clean air inlets/outlets: Use a vacuum cleaner with a brush attachment to gently clean dust from the ventilation grilles under and around the cooktop.
  • Step 3 – Avoid prolonged maximum power: Reduce the power level or use the PowerBoost function for shorter periods to prevent repeated overheating.
  • Step 4 – Listen for cooling fan: After switching off a hot zone, you should hear the internal fan running for a few minutes. If there is no fan noise, the fan may be defective or obstructed.
  • Step 5 – Internal inspection (technician): Remove the cooktop, open the bottom cover, and inspect the cooling fan for free rotation and clean blades. Check the NTC temperature sensor on the affected coil and its wiring to the power board. Replace the fan or sensor if faulty. If the power module shows signs of heat damage (burnt areas, bulging capacitors), replace the module.

Repeated E2 errors indicate a cooling or sensor problem that should be addressed promptly to avoid permanent damage.
