Possible Causes

Moisture on touch panel, Stuck touch key, Faulty touch sensor IC, Damaged glass panel or control PCB

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Turn off the cooktop and disconnect it from the mains before cleaning or disassembly.

  • Step 1 – Dry the surface: Wipe the glass control area thoroughly with a dry, soft cloth. Remove all liquid, cleaner residue, and condensation.
  • Step 2 – Allow to air dry: Leave the cooktop powered off for several hours to allow any internal moisture to evaporate, especially if a large spill occurred.
  • Step 3 – Check for stuck keys: Ensure there are no objects (cloths, utensils, lids) resting on the touch controls. The panel must be completely clear.
  • Step 4 – Power reset: After drying, restore power at the breaker and test. If E9 clears, the issue was likely moisture or a temporary key lock.
  • Step 5 – Internal inspection (technician): If E9 persists, remove the cooktop and separate the glass top from the chassis to access the touch control PCB. Inspect for corrosion, liquid traces, or cracked tracks. Clean with isopropyl alcohol and a soft brush if minor contamination is present.
  • Step 6 – Replace touch control board: If the panel still misreads touches or E9 remains, replace the touch control PCB. If the glass is cracked or delaminated around the control area, replace the glass ceramic top as well.

Do not use the cooktop if the glass is cracked, as this can lead to electric shock or further damage.
