Possible Causes

Open or shorted NTC sensor on heating element, Loose sensor wiring, Faulty control board input circuit, Damaged radiant element with integrated sensor

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Disconnect the cooktop from mains power before accessing internal components.

  • Step 1 – Identify affected zone: Note which radiant zone misbehaves or shows F3 when selected.
  • Step 2 – Access underside (technician): Remove the cooktop from the countertop and open the bottom cover to expose the radiant elements.
  • Step 3 – Inspect sensor wiring: Locate the NTC sensor on the affected element (often clipped to the element or integrated). Check for loose or broken wires and secure connectors.
  • Step 4 – Measure sensor resistance: With a multimeter, measure the NTC resistance at room temperature and compare with Balay service values. Replace the sensor or entire element if out of range.
  • Step 5 – Control board check: If the sensor is good, the control board’s sensor input may be defective. Replace the control board if necessary.

Do not operate a radiant zone that overheats uncontrollably, as it poses a fire risk.
