Possible Causes

Defective zone power module, Open heating element or coil, Loose wiring to that zone, Faulty zone control on user interface board

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Disconnect the cooktop from mains power before removing it from the countertop.

  • Step 1 – Confirm zone selection: Ensure you are correctly selecting the zone and setting a power level above zero. Check that any required cookware is present (for induction).
  • Step 2 – Cross‑test cookware (induction): Try the same pot on another zone. If it works elsewhere, the issue is with the original zone.
  • Step 3 – Internal inspection (technician): Open the underside and trace wiring from the control board to the affected zone’s element or coil. Tighten or replace any loose or burnt connectors.
  • Step 4 – Test element/coil: Measure resistance of the heating element or induction coil. Replace if open or shorted.
  • Step 5 – Check zone power module: Some Balay hobs use separate power modules for pairs of zones. Swap modules between zones (if identical) to see if the fault follows the module. Replace the defective module.

Always document wiring positions before disconnecting components to avoid misconnection.
