Possible Causes
Failed ignition transformer (spark generator), no mains supply to ignition unit, defective ignition switch on control knob, wiring fault to spark electrodes
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off gas supply at the shutoff valve and disconnect the appliance from mains power before removing any parts.
- Check mains supply: Verify that the cooktop is plugged in and that the outlet has power.
- Listen for clicking: When a burner knob is turned to ignite, you should hear rapid clicking. If there is no clicking on any burner, suspect the ignition transformer or its power supply.
- Inspect wiring: Remove the cooktop from the worktop and lift the top panel to access the ignition transformer and wiring. Look for loose connectors or burned wires.
- Test transformer: With power disconnected, check for obvious damage. If all switches and wiring are intact but there is no spark, replace the ignition transformer (spark generator).
- Check individual switches: If some burners spark and others do not, test the ignition switch on the non-working burner’s control valve and replace if faulty.
