Possible Causes
Faulty limiter on radiant element, Defective infinite switch, Poor pan contact with glass, Incorrect cookware size
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off power before accessing internal components.
- Verify cookware: Use flat-bottom pans that match the size of the element marking. Warped pans can cause the limiter to cycle early.
- Observe cycling: At high setting, the element should glow steadily for a while before cycling. Very rapid cycling may indicate a bad limiter.
- Inspect limiter: Access the element and check the small limiter device attached to it. Ensure it is properly clipped and making good contact.
- Replace limiter or element: On many designs, the limiter is integrated with the element; replace the entire element assembly if faulty.
- Check infinite switch: If the element never reaches full power, test and replace the infinite switch if it does not provide full output at high setting.
