Possible Causes

Failed oven temperature sensor (NTC), Shorted sensor wiring harness, Stuck bake or broil relay on EOC, Poor oven ventilation causing heat buildup

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Turn off power at the breaker and allow the oven to cool completely before inspection.

  • Check for obvious overheating: Ensure oven vents are not blocked by foil, pans, or cabinetry. Remove any obstruction and avoid covering racks with foil.
  • Test oven sensor: Locate the temperature sensor probe inside the oven (usually rear wall, upper corner). From the rear of the unit, disconnect its connector. With a multimeter set to ohms, measure resistance at room temperature; most Blomberg sensors should read around 1000–1100 Ω at 20–25°C. Replace if reading is far out of range or open/shorted.
  • Inspect sensor wiring: Check the harness from the sensor to the EOC for pinched, burnt, or shorted wires. Repair or replace as needed.
  • Check EOC relays: If the oven continues heating with the EOC off or after power reset, the bake or broil relay may be welded closed. In this case, replace the EOC.

If you smell burning insulation or see smoke, keep power off and call a technician immediately.
