Possible Causes
Faulty oven igniter (glow bar), No gas supply or closed gas valve, Defective gas safety valve, Broken igniter wiring
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off electrical power and shut off the gas supply before working on gas components. If you smell gas, ventilate the area and do not operate electrical switches.
- Check gas supply: Ensure the gas shutoff valve to the range is fully open and other gas appliances work.
- Observe igniter: With panels in place and power on, start a bake cycle and look through the oven to see if the igniter glows. If it does not glow at all, the igniter or its wiring is likely faulty.
- Test igniter: Disconnect power, access the igniter, and measure its resistance. An open circuit indicates a failed igniter. Replace with the correct Blomberg igniter.
- Check gas valve: If the igniter glows but the burner never lights, the igniter may be too weak (low current) to open the gas valve. Replace the igniter first. If a new igniter does not solve the issue, the gas valve may be defective and should be replaced by a qualified technician.
