Possible Causes
Food or grease buildup on igniter, Misaligned burner cap, Weak spark due to cracked electrode, Loose igniter wire
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off the burner knob and ensure there is no standing gas before working near the burner.
- Clean burner parts: Remove the burner cap and head. Clean all ports with a soft brush and warm soapy water. Ensure the small ignition port near the electrode is clear.
- Clean igniter: Gently scrub the ceramic igniter and metal tip with a toothbrush and mild cleaner. Do not use abrasive pads.
- Reassemble correctly: Place the burner head and cap back so they sit flat and centered. Misalignment can prevent gas from reaching the spark.
- Test ignition: Turn the knob to ignite and observe the spark. If there is no spark at that burner but others work, inspect the igniter wire and replace the electrode if cracked.
