Possible Causes
Shorted IGBT on induction power board, Short in induction coil, Damaged wiring harness between coil and module, Internal power board failure
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect the appliance from mains and wait at least 10 minutes for capacitors to discharge. High voltages are present on the power board.
Steps:
- Try a different zone: If only one zone shows E04, the fault is localized to that zone's module or coil.
- Visual inspection: Remove the hob and access the underside. Inspect the induction coil and wiring for burn marks, melted insulation, or loose connectors.
- Check coil resistance: With a multimeter (ohms), measure the resistance of the suspect coil and compare with a known good zone. A significantly lower reading or open circuit indicates a faulty coil.
- Inspect power board: Look for cracked or burnt components on the induction power board (IGBTs, tracks, capacitors). Any visible damage usually means the board must be replaced.
- Do not bypass safety: Never attempt to bridge or bypass components on the power board. Replace the defective coil or module with an original Brandt part.
- Call a technician: Because of the risk of electric shock and fire, power module replacement is best left to a qualified technician.
