Possible Causes
Drifting NTC sensor, Poor sensor contact with oven wall, Faulty electronic oven control, Damaged sensor harness
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off power before accessing the rear of the range or control panel.
Steps:
- Check sensor mounting: Ensure the sensor probe is firmly screwed to the oven wall and not hanging loose, which can cause incorrect readings.
- Inspect wiring: From the rear of the range, follow the sensor wires to the control board. Look for chafing, burns, or loose connectors.
- Compare resistance at different temperatures: If you have a thermometer, gently heat the sensor tip in warm water (sealed in a bag) and verify that resistance changes smoothly according to Brandt's chart.
- Replace sensor if suspect: If readings are unstable or out of range, install a new oven temperature sensor.
- Control board replacement: If a new sensor does not resolve F02, the oven control board is likely defective and should be replaced.
