Possible Causes
Dirty or blocked burner cap and ports, Misaligned burner cap, Faulty spark electrode, Cracked ignition lead to that burner
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off the burner control and ensure no gas is flowing while you work. Do not use sharp metal objects that could damage parts.
User steps:
- Remove the burner cap and head from the affected burner.
- Clean the burner cap and ports with warm soapy water and a soft brush; ensure all flame holes are clear.
- Dry thoroughly and refit the burner head and cap, ensuring they sit flat and correctly located.
- Check that the spark electrode tip is clean and positioned close to the burner (2–4 mm gap).
- Try lighting again; listen for a strong clicking and look for a visible spark.
Technician steps (if still faulty):
- Inspect the electrode for cracks or damage and replace if necessary.
- Check the ignition lead from the spark generator to this electrode for continuity and insulation damage.
