Electric surface element (coil or radiant) does not heat; indicator light may still come on.

Safety first: Turn off power at the breaker before removing elements or panels.

• Swap test: On coil-top models, swap the non-heating element with a known good one of the same size. If the problem follows the element, replace it.
• Check receptacle: Inspect the element receptacle for burnt contacts or melted plastic. Replace if damaged.
• Test infinite switch: For radiant glass-top models, access the control panel and test the infinite switch for continuity between terminals as you turn the knob. Replace if open.
• Inspect wiring: Check for loose or burnt wires between the switch and element.
