Possible Causes
Loose or damaged ribbon cable, Corroded connector pins, Failed touchpad, Failed EOC communication circuit
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off power at the breaker before accessing the console.
- Inspect connectors: Remove the rear console cover. Locate the ribbon cable between the touchpad and EOC. Unplug and inspect for corrosion, bent pins, or contamination.
- Clean contacts: Use electronic contact cleaner on the ribbon and connector (if recommended by manufacturer). Allow to dry fully before reconnecting.
- Reseat cable: Reinsert the ribbon straight and fully into the connector, ensuring the locking tabs engage.
- Test operation: Restore power and test. If F12 returns, substitute either the touchpad or EOC (starting with the more economical part) based on model-specific diagnostics.
