Possible Causes
Failed oven temperature sensor (RTD), Stuck relay on EOC, Poor airflow around oven cavity, Miscalibrated electronic oven control
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off power at the breaker and allow the oven to cool completely before working.
- Check for obvious overheating: Remove any foil covering oven vents or racks. Ensure cookware is not blocking rear or bottom vents.
- Inspect oven temperature sensor: Locate the thin metal probe inside the oven (usually back wall, upper left or right). With power OFF, remove the two mounting screws and gently pull the sensor forward. Check the wiring connector for burns or looseness.
- Test sensor resistance: With a multimeter, measure resistance across the sensor leads. At room temperature (~70°F / 21°C), it should read about 1050–1100 Ω. If far outside spec, replace the sensor.
- Reset control: Restore power and test a bake cycle at 350°F. If F2 returns quickly, the EOC relay may be stuck and the board will need replacement.
Warning: Do not continue using the oven if it overheats or smells like burning insulation. This can be a fire hazard.
