Possible Causes
Shorted oven temperature sensor, Sensor wiring shorted to chassis, Moisture in sensor connector, Failed EOC sensor input circuit
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off power at the breaker before inspection.
- Inspect sensor and wiring: Remove the oven temperature sensor from inside the cavity. Check the insulation on the leads for bare spots or contact with metal.
- Test sensor resistance: At room temperature, the sensor should read around 1050–1100 Ω. A reading near 0 Ω indicates a shorted sensor; replace it.
- Check harness routing: From the rear of the range, follow the sensor wires to the EOC. Ensure they are not pinched under panels or touching sharp metal edges. Repair any damaged insulation and secure with high-temp wire ties.
- Dry connectors: If there has been steam or liquid intrusion, disconnect the sensor plug and dry thoroughly before reconnecting.
- If F4 persists with a good sensor and harness: Replace the EOC.
