Possible Causes

Failed oven cooling fan motor, Blocked cooling air vents, Faulty fan relay on EOC, Open or shorted high-limit thermostat

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Disconnect power and allow the oven to cool completely before servicing.

  • Check ventilation: Ensure the range has proper clearance around cabinets and that rear and top vents are not blocked by foil, pans, or debris.
  • Listen for fan operation: During a bake cycle, you should hear the internal cooling fan running. If it is silent, suspect the fan motor or relay.
  • Access cooling fan: Remove the rear panel to locate the cooling fan assembly. Spin the fan blade by hand; it should turn freely without grinding.
  • Test fan motor: With power disconnected, check resistance across the fan motor terminals. An open reading indicates a failed motor that must be replaced.
  • Inspect high-limit thermostat: Locate the high-limit thermostat on the oven cavity or rear panel. Test for continuity; if open at room temperature, replace it.

Warning: Do not bypass safety thermostats. They protect against fire and overheating.
