Possible Causes

Weak or failed hot surface igniter, No gas supply or closed gas valve, Faulty oven safety valve, Clogged burner ports

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Turn off gas supply and power before disassembly. If you smell strong gas, ventilate and do not ignite any flames; contact gas provider or technician.

  • Check gas supply: Ensure the gas shutoff valve behind the range is fully open and other gas appliances work.
  • Observe igniter: With the oven set to bake, look at the igniter. It should glow bright orange within 30–60 seconds. If it glows weakly or not at all, replace it.
  • Clean burner: Once cool, remove the oven bottom panel and clean burner ports with a soft brush to remove debris.
  • Test safety valve: If the igniter glows strongly but the burner never lights, the oven safety valve may be faulty and should be tested and replaced by a qualified technician.
