Possible Causes
Failed bake heating element, Burnt wire at bake element terminal, Open thermal cutoff or high-limit thermostat, Faulty bake relay on EOC
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off power at the breaker before inspecting elements or wiring.
- Visual check: Inspect the bake element inside the oven for blisters, cracks, or breaks.
- Test element: Disconnect the element leads (from rear or front depending on model) and measure resistance. A typical element reads 15–40 Ω. An open reading means it must be replaced.
- Inspect wiring: Check for burnt or loose wires at the element terminals and along the harness.
- Check thermostats: Locate any inline thermal cutoffs or high-limit thermostats on the rear of the oven cavity and test for continuity. Replace if open.
- If all else is good: The bake relay on the EOC may be faulty and the board will need replacement.
