Possible Causes

Cooling fan failure, Blocked ventilation, Power module heat sink clogged with dust, Faulty temperature sensor on heat sink

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Allow the appliance to cool fully before touching any internal parts. Isolate from mains before removing any panels.

  • Let it cool: Turn the hob off and wait at least 30 minutes. Try again at a lower power setting.
  • Check ventilation space: Ensure the hob has the minimum clearance specified by Grundig under and around it. Remove stored items from the cabinet under the hob.
  • Clean vents: Vacuum dust from the intake and exhaust vents. Do not use liquids or sprays inside the hob.
  • Listen for fan operation: If the fan never runs, it may be defective or obstructed.

If E5 recurs, a technician should test the cooling fan, temperature sensor, and power module and replace faulty components.
