Possible Causes

Burner ports partially blocked, Incorrect injector (jet) size for gas type, Insufficient primary air, Low gas pressure

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Yellow, sooty flames can produce carbon monoxide. Use the hob only briefly while troubleshooting and ensure good ventilation.

  • Clean burner: Remove burner cap and head; clean all ports with warm soapy water and a soft brush. Dry thoroughly before refitting.
  • Check cap alignment: Ensure the burner cap sits flat and centered on the burner head.
  • Verify gas type: Confirm that the hob is configured for your gas type (natural gas vs LPG). If recently converted, the wrong injectors may have been fitted.

If flames remain yellow or noisy, a gas technician should check injector sizes, gas pressure, and air adjustment.
