Possible Causes
Burner cap misaligned, Burner head ports blocked with food or cleaner, Moisture in burner after cleaning, Low gas pressure or partially closed gas tap
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn the burner OFF and wait for any gas smell to dissipate before working on the burner. Do not use open flames to dry parts.
- Check cap alignment: Once cool, remove the burner cap and head. Clean and dry them, then refit ensuring they sit flat and centred.
- Clean ports: Use a soft brush or wooden toothpick to clear blocked holes in the burner head. Do not enlarge the holes.
- Dry thoroughly: If the burner was recently washed, ensure all parts are completely dry before refitting.
- Test gas supply: Confirm other burners light normally. If all are weak, have a gas engineer check the supply pressure and isolation tap.
- If one burner remains weak: The burner head may be damaged or the injector partially blocked; a technician can clean or replace the injector.
