Possible Causes
Loose or oxidized ribbon cable, failed user interface board, failed main control board, moisture intrusion at connectors
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Turn off power at the breaker before removing the control panel.
- Inspect connections: Remove the back cover of the control area. Locate the ribbon cable between the touch panel and the control board. Disconnect and reconnect it several times to clean contacts.
- Check for corrosion: Look for green/white corrosion or discoloration on the ribbon contacts or board connector. If present, the UI or control may need replacement.
- Dry moisture: If there are signs of moisture, allow the area to dry completely. Do not use a hair dryer inside the control cavity; allow air drying.
- Replace UI or control: If F1E4 returns after reseating, replace the user interface assembly first. If still present, replace the main control board.
