Possible Causes
Failed oven temperature sensor, broken sensor wiring harness, loose sensor connector at control, shorted sensor leads
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Turn off power at the breaker before working inside the oven cavity or control area.
- Locate sensor: Inside the oven, find the temperature sensor probe (thin metal rod) usually on the back wall.
- Inspect wiring: Remove the rear panel of the range. Locate the sensor wires and connector. Check for loose or burnt connections.
- Test sensor (if you have a meter): Disconnect the sensor and measure resistance at room temperature. A typical KitchenAid sensor should read about 1000–1100 ohms at 70°F (21°C). If reading is far off or open/shorted, replace the sensor.
- Replace sensor: Remove the mounting screws inside the oven, gently pull the sensor into the cavity, transfer the connector, and install the new sensor. Do not overtighten screws.
- Reassemble and test: Restore power and run a Bake cycle to confirm normal operation.
