Possible Causes
Defective thermocouple sensor, Misaligned thermocouple tip, Loose thermocouple connection at valve, Faulty flame supervision module
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn all burner controls to OFF and allow the cooktop to cool. Shut off gas supply before removing burner parts.
User checks:
- Ensure the burner caps and crowns are correctly seated; misalignment can prevent the flame from heating the thermocouple.
- Clean the burner and thermocouple tip gently with a soft brush to remove food debris or oxidation.
- Try lighting the burner again and hold the knob in the ignition position for a few seconds to allow the thermocouple to heat.
Technician checks:
- Inspect the thermocouple for damage and correct positioning in the flame.
- Check the thermocouple connection at the gas valve and tighten if loose.
- Measure thermocouple output (mV) when heated; if below specification, replace the thermocouple assembly.
- If thermocouples are good, test the flame supervision module or integrated safety valve and replace if faulty.
