Possible Causes

Prolonged operation at maximum power, Blocked cooling fan or ventilation, Failed cooling fan, Defective temperature sensor on power module

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Turn off all cooking zones and disconnect power at the breaker. Allow the cooktop to cool completely before inspection.

User actions:

  • Remove large pots or griddles that cover multiple zones and control area.
  • Check that air can circulate under the cooktop: remove any stored items from the cabinet directly beneath the unit.
  • After at least 20–30 minutes of cooling, restore power and test at a moderate power level.

Technician actions:

  • Access the underside of the cooktop and locate the cooling fan assembly.
  • Visually inspect the fan for grease buildup, obstructions, or broken blades. Clean carefully with a soft brush and vacuum.
  • Power the fan (following Liebherr service instructions) and verify it runs smoothly. Replace the cooling fan motor if seized or noisy.
  • Check ventilation channels and baffles for dust or insulation blocking airflow.
  • Test the temperature sensor on the power module (if separate from glass NTC) for correct resistance. Replace if out of spec.
  • If all thermal components are good, the induction power module may be misreading temperature and should be replaced.
