Possible Causes
Failed oven temperature sensor (NTC), Shorted cooktop temperature sensor, Blocked cooling airflow around electronics, Faulty cooling fan for control compartment
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Turn off power at the breaker and allow the appliance to cool completely before working near hot components.
- Check for blocked vents: Verify that ventilation slots around the control panel and under the cooktop are not blocked by cabinetry, foil, or debris.
- Inspect cooling fan: On ranges, remove the rear panel and confirm the control compartment cooling fan spins freely and is not obstructed. Replace if seized or noisy.
- Test temperature sensor: Locate the oven temperature sensor (NTC) or cooktop sensor harness. Disconnect and measure resistance with a multimeter at room temperature; compare to Miele’s spec (typically around 1–1.1 kΩ at 25°C for many NTCs—check service data).
- Check wiring: Inspect sensor wiring for burns, pinched insulation, or loose connectors at the control board.
- Replace faulty sensor: If resistance is open, shorted, or far out of spec, replace the sensor. Clear the error by power cycling.
Warning: Do not bypass temperature sensors; this can create a fire hazard.
