Possible Causes

Blocked cooling vents, Cooling fan not running, Overheated power module, Continuous high-power operation with poor ventilation

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Turn off the hob and isolate from the mains if there is a burning smell or visible smoke. Allow the appliance to cool completely.

  • Allow cooling: Switch off all zones and leave the hob for 15–30 minutes to cool. E2 often clears automatically once temperature drops.
  • Check ventilation: Ensure there is adequate clearance under the worktop as specified in the Montpellier installation manual. Remove any stored items (pans, trays) blocking airflow around the hob.
  • Inspect cooling fan operation: After restoring power, run a zone at medium power and listen for the internal fan. It should run quietly during and after cooking. If silent, the fan may have failed.
  • Clean air inlets/outlets: Use a vacuum with a brush attachment to gently clean dust from ventilation grilles under the hob (do not open the casing).
  • Persistent E2: Indicates a failing cooling fan or power module. Contact a qualified technician to test and replace the cooling fan or power board.
