Cooktop knobs are hard to turn, loose, or do not properly control flame/heat.

Safety first: Turn all burners OFF. For gas models, shut off the gas supply if removing control panel parts.

Knob check:

• Pull the knob straight off the shaft.
• Inspect the knob insert for cracks or rounding; replace the control knob if worn.

If valve is stiff:

• Do not force the valve. Internal lubrication or replacement may be needed.
• Because gas valves are safety components, have a qualified technician clean or replace the surface burner valve.
