Cooktop surface temperature sensor error; range may beep and disable some functions.
Safety Warning
This repair may involve working with high voltage components or water connections. Always unplug the appliance before removing any panels.
If you are not confident in your ability to perform this repair safely, we strongly recommend contacting a professional technician.
Possible Causes
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn OFF all burners. Unplug the range or switch OFF the circuit breaker before servicing.
Initial steps:
- Allow the cooktop to cool completely (at least 30–45 minutes) and then restore power. Sometimes the code clears if it was triggered by extreme heat.
- Check that no heavy pots or pans are bridging multiple burners and overheating the glass surface.
Inspection:
- Disconnect power and pull the range forward.
- Remove the rear cover to access the main PCB and sensor harnesses.
- Locate the surface temperature sensor harness (refer to the wiring diagram on the back panel). Ensure the connector is fully seated and not burnt.
- Visually inspect the sensor wiring under the cooktop for melted insulation or pinched wires.
Advanced check: With a multimeter and the unit unplugged, measure resistance of the surface temperature sensor at room temperature and compare to Samsung specifications (typically in the service manual). Replace the sensor if readings are open, shorted, or far out of range.
Note: If wiring and sensor test good, the main PCB may be faulty and should be diagnosed and replaced by a professional.
