Cooktop sensor open-circuit error; cooktop may not heat properly.
Safety Warning
This repair may involve working with high voltage components or water connections. Always unplug the appliance before removing any panels.
If you are not confident in your ability to perform this repair safely, we strongly recommend contacting a professional technician.
Possible Causes
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect power to the range before removing any panels.
Connector check:
- Pull the range out and remove the rear access panel.
- Locate the surface temperature sensor connector on the main PCB.
- Ensure the connector is fully seated and locked. Reseat it if necessary.
Harness and sensor:
- Trace the harness from the PCB to the sensor under the glass top. Look for cuts, abrasions, or broken wires.
- With a multimeter, measure resistance of the sensor at room temperature. An infinite (OL) reading indicates an open sensor that must be replaced.
After repair: Reassemble panels, restore power, and test each burner. If the error returns, the main PCB may be faulty and should be checked by a technician.
