Possible Causes
Weak bake igniter, Failed oven safety valve, Faulty temperature sensor, Loose wiring to igniter
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn the oven OFF. If you smell raw gas, do not attempt to light the oven—ventilate the area and contact your gas supplier.
Observation:
- Set the oven to Bake at 350°F and look through the bottom vents to see if the igniter glows.
If igniter does not glow:
- Check for loose or damaged wires to the igniter.
- The bake igniter is likely failed and should be replaced.
If igniter glows but burner never lights:
- A weak igniter may not draw enough current to open the gas valve. The igniter should still be replaced.
- If a new igniter does not solve the issue, the oven safety valve may be defective and should be tested and replaced by a technician.
